Chapter 3: The Myths

Every culture has their own myths

In the Nordic myths, good and evil were connected with the changing of seasons. In winter everything dies, and in spring everything comes alive. In this case the winter represents evil, and the spring represents good.

Myth - A story about the gods which sets out to explain why life is as it is.

Sophie creates her own myth about rain. She states, "If she had not known any other explanation for the changing seasons, she felt sure she would have come to believe her own story in the end."
